ALEXIS BLEDEL FOR WWD

Liz1 Comment
In general, I do not scan fashion editorials for my blog, as there are already about 500 million other people that do this and the bases are plenty covered. But I just got a ton of free magazines, so I might as well put up a few that I like.
First up, I always had a bit of weakness for the Gilmore Girls (sorry) so I loved the change of pace for Alexis Bledel, seen here as a leather-clad vixen.

I keep trying to denounce studs but then I find some fucked up shoe like this one that's so over the top I kind of have to like it.

Thanks to my friend Sara for sending these shoes my way! Of course, I love them and snatched them up right away...my size, mint condition vintage, zippers & studs, bitchin spike heel...could they be any better? I'll probably never wear them like 90% of the things I buy, but even if I just gaze at them all day and sleep with them under my pillow at night, I'll be a happy girl to have them.

STUD COLLAGE

LizComment
I love the studs on these boots. They look like a mistake. When you set a stud in leather and don't hit it correctly with your tool, it smashes the stud and leaves it bent.

The entire shaft of this boot is covered in various holes and smashed studs. If it were one or two bent studs on a boot, I'd be pissed to pay $498 for them at Free People. But if you cover the whole thing in them, it's pretty amazing.

PRINTED STUDS

Alex Wang, taking studs to the next level...printed. I was looking at Jayne's blog and saw these images which, of course, I think are great. Studs are on everything right now - so how to make them different? This is a thoughtful fabrication, I quite like it.

Love or hate? I think it's just a little too much, though I do appreciate the Mad Max aspect of it. And I'm very proud of May Kate for being able to hold her arms up while wearing it. I bet that thing is heavy as a bitch.

PUNKER JACKETS

Punks love YouTube. There are a million videos on punkifying yourself, like how-to stud your jacket. Momolovesroar's got some nice montages complete with music of other people's jackets and vests. Here's a few photos from them. Pardon the really shitty snapshot quality.

Bleach and studs.
Oh la la...crop top.

I don't know you, but I'm liking the view from here.

BLING! JUST FOR FUN

Liz4 Comments
Total studded overload. I made this little bag/wallet thing with some of my leather scraps and leftover studs. Brass and silver...it's really heavy with all that metal on there. I got no Bedazzler....these are all set by hand.
I was also a little inspired by the blingy allover sparkle of disco balls. Must have been from looking at all the images when I did my disco ball post a while back.
I love studs, but I'll be moving along. Too much of a good thing can get old. I'll still be making my the studded clutches, but I've got a lot more I want to work on. I'll have a small collection of studded bags and clutches in-store soon, I'll let you know when they are up!

SATURDAY

Today it rained. I did some pointless errands, kind of sewed, drank a few beers, and ate a some peanut butter pretzels (the kinds from Trader Joes that are like little pretzel pillows with the PB inside). I got a glue headache. This glue makes me breakout in the crease of my inside elbow only. It's a creepy allergy.
Resolene for edge finishing...it's a secret weapon.Measuring things, pencils, pliers, Osborne tools, things of that sort that I use a lot.Metal action.Sewing a bunch of these things to be sent out soon. And just for fun, the tinniest leather jacket ever. It's pretty much palm-sized.It's really quite beautiful... thanks to Sara for the present. But I just can't cut into it even though the leather is great. It's much more fun to pose it like it's a naughty baby that smokes and drinks. Really, the props are for scale.Lovely Bec demonstrating the strange posture that happens when wearing something so restricive.

F-TROUPE CUTIES

Of course I love these shoes, available at OAK. Description reads "white studded canvas shoe"...but I think the studs actually look more like snaps? That would be cool, too. Either way, if I had these, I would do my fancy high-kick dance move in them. Maybe I'll share that move with you at some point, if you're very, very lucky.
